Phillip Schofield scolds Holly Willoughby over ITV This Morning blunder and asks 'what have we just broadcast?'

Phillip Schofield scolded Holly Willoughby about her on-air blunder on This Morning and asked 'what have we just broadcast?'. The pair were back fronting the ITV daytime show today (January 23) and everything appeared to be going to plan until the usual game of Spin to Win.

The game usually sees a lucky viewer of the show given the chance to win up to £3,000. However, this can sometimes be increased to other amounts such as £5,000 or to other prizes such as trips out. But in the latest edition of the game the top prize was £3,000 and as ever it was a bit of a wait to get through to someone who was ready to win some cash.

All they have to do is answer the phone and give a passphrase instead of saying 'hello'. This often goes wrong leading to Phillip or Holly quickly dismissing the caller and moving on to the next. If they run out of time, a rollover ends up taking place with Phillip spinning his wheel and the cash being added to the following day's prize fund.

However, it was Holly, 41, who sent the game into chaos as she said hello to the caller when they picked up phone, rather than waiting for them to answer with the password. Her blunder was quickly picked up by Phillip, who had already told her to 'shush' as she talked after the phone stopped ringer: "No!" he screeched as Holly ran off in horror and hid behind a cushion on the show's famous sofa.

"What are you playing at? What game is this you've invented in your head?!" the 60-year-old fumed. "We've got to let them play," Holly pleaded. The caller had already said the passphrase and said it for a second time much to Phillip's despair.

"What do we do now?" he asked as Holly jumped back into shot and declared: "We have to let him play, surely, because I messed up." She then added: "I'm so sorry. What's your name?" before she confirmed it was Lesley.

But to make matters worse, the caller then went silent. "Oh god, who are you?" Phillip said as Holly begged: "Please talk!" Things didn't get any better as Phillip muttered: "God help us." He then asked for the caller's name again to which Holly cried: "Lesley!"

Turning back to Holly, Phillip said: "We had to make sure we got the right one as you just changed the rules of the entire game. That could have been anyone on there," before Holly lost it and stood in giggles.

The viewer again confirmed his name to which Phillip despaired: "Oh god, oh god!" before they both struggled to keep it together while trying to complete the game. As ever, the caller also got a chance to win a bag of This Morning branded goodies and while Holly was quick to get it over with and said he could have it without answering the question.

But Phillip disagreed and shouted at his co-star: "What are you doing?!" And as the segment finally came to an end, the host admitted: "What the hell have we just broadcast here," before struggling to preview tomorrow's game.

And viewers watching the mess unfold at home were in stitches. @Charlie__Tweets said: "Oh my god my stomach hurts so much from laughing that was the best spin to win in ages. @hollywills just inventing her own rules. I love it so much. #ThisMorning @thismorning."

@SandieJ3 tweeted: "Hilarious Spin To Win today with Holly saying the one word your not supposed to say 'Hello' #ThisMorning." @ForeverOUFC wrote: "I’m absolute stitches at Spin To Win on #thismorning, please @ITV @thismorning post that in full haven’t cried with laughter in ages!"

@AndyGibsonTV posted: "Spin To Win is utter chaos today. #ThisMorning." @bachelorettem shared: "That was the best spin to win ever #ThisMorning." @RyanTheSoapking commented: "Why is Spin to Win always a car crash #ThisMorning." @SpinToWinPhrase added: "What a calamitous c**k up today was #SpinToWin #ThisMorning."
