Phillip Schofield scalds This Morning viewer on furlough for moaning about doing chores

Phillip Schofield put himself on VERY thin ice and left co-hosts Holly Willoughby and Vanessa Feltz grimacing after a cutting comment to a This Morning viewer on furlough.

Phone-ins are a regular occurrence on the ITV daytime show and the subject for Tuesday's was Laziness in Lockdown, giving callers an opportunity to have a rant against partners not pulling their fingers out or have a go at their other halves for not appreciating their domestic efforts.

The first call came from Zara who explained: "I've been on furlough the whole entire time and my partner's worked the full time. He expects me to do all the cooking, cleaning and washing and doesn't really say thank you.

"Dinner is on the table when he gets home and he doesn't clear it up. A little more help would be nice."

After hearing her complaint, Phillip reacted: "I am on the thinnest of ice here but he's working, you're on furlough so you've got your days free....you're in lockdown and you've got your days free is that right? Well what else have you been doing?!

"If it was the other way round, you could say to him...I just think it seems fair."

His savage dig had guest host Vanessa wincing as she couldn't quite believe what she was hearing, while as the phone went quiet, Holly quipped: "I'm just going to sit back and watch! I think he could say thank you," to which Phillip replied: "Of course he could say thank you! He definitely should be appreciative."

Viewers were quick to react to Phillip's comment, with one tweeting: "Oooooo @Schofe your (sic) a brave man," and another exclaiming: "I noticed Philip has become a real b***h."

However, agreeing with the long-serving presenter, another viewer remarked: "YES!!! Well done @Schofe strap those ice skates on, glide over that ice and call the snowflakes out!!"
