Phillip Schofield 'sad' as he is still absent from ITV's This Morning

Phillip Schofield still hasn't returned to This Morning following the Christmas break.

He and his co-host Holly Willoughby haven't been seen on any live shows since around mid-December. They did appear on special pre-recorded festive episodes, including one on Christmas Day.

The special was recorded before Holly, 41, and Phillip, 60, said their goodbyes for the year to viewers earlier this month and were replaced by Alison Hammond, Dermot O'Leary, Jose Gibson, Craig Doyle and Andi Peters.

Some This Morning fans expected to see Holly and Phillip back at the helm of the popular programme on Tuesday (January 3). Instead, viewers were welcomed into the New Year by Andi Peters and Josie Gibson.

Phil was heading home from Copenhagen (Instagram)

It seems that Phil has spent his winter break in Copenhagen, Denmark. He shared a post to his Instagram of him beaming into the camera, wearing a gold masquerade mask with a smart suit.

But his trip has now come to an end and he appears to be heading back to the UK. Sharing a further post yesterday, he wrote: "Sad to leave Copenhagen. No question, the friendliest city I’ve ever visited."
