Phillip Schofield's This Morning absence to last for weeks as host takes break

It has been confirmed that Phillip Schofield will be missing from This Morning for a number of weeks, having taken an 'unexpected' break this week.

ITV viewers were surprised to find out that long-serving presenter Phillip wasn't going to be hosting the daytime show alongside Holly Willoughby, as Alison Hammond came into replace him. His absence was only addressed very briefly on Monday, with Holly telling viewers at home: "Phillip is having the week off so all the adults have left the building and Alison has come! Is it weird being here on a Monday?"

There has been no mention of Phillip being missing since then and it has now been revealed that it will be well into this month before he'll be back in the This Morning studio. During an ad break on Thursday, the show revealed that Alison and Dermot will replace Holly and Phillip during the two-week Easter break.

In the announcement, the regular Friday presenters appear in a flashback clip in the This Morning studio as they prepare to take the reins for a full week.

The latest change of personnel for the This Morning hosting line-up was confirmed just as Masked Singer star Joel Dommett impressed viewers with his presenting debut on the show, alongside Holly, as she stood in for Phillip on Wednesday and Thursday.

Impressed with him taking on a new role, one fan took to Twitter to post: "Absolutely love Joel, a breath of fresh air!!!! Let’s see more of him on This Morning," with a second tweeting: "Omg I’m loving Joel being on this morning!! He’s brilliant and I think could be a permanent addition"
