Phillip Schofield's scathing dig at Piers Morgan over GMB unemployment

Phillip Schofield made a rather obvious dig at Piers Morgan on Tuesday, following his departure from Good Morning Britain in March.

During the latest instalment of This Morning, Phillip and his temporary co-host Rochelle Humes spoke to Sam Rubin in Los Angeles about some recent headlines.

The conversation quickly turned to the recent feud between US singer Demi Lovato and outspoken Piers.

The 56-year-old blasted Demi in his recent column after she called out an independent frozen yoghurt for selling "diet" items.

After Sam explained the feud, the camera cut back to Phillip, who cheekily said: "We know that Piers Morgan waded in so it must be serious..."

Phillip then sarcastically added: "He’s got a lot of time on his hands to write about yoghurt!" before laughing with mum-of-three Rochelle.

However, fans were quick to call Phillip out for his comments and took to Twitter to air their opinion.

"Wow that was a b**chy comment from phil #ThisMorning," one person posted.

Another added: "Phil b**ching about Morgan. I'm sure you had him on the show, nice and fluffy interview and lunch afterwards. #ThisMorning."

Following Piers' shock departure from GMB on March 9, Phillip and his usual co-host Holly Willoughby didn't really acknowledge the news on This Morning.

Viewers were shocked back in February when Phillip jumped to Piers' defence during a chat with TV and radio presenter Beverley Turner on This Morning.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
