Phillip Schofield's replacement 'works better' with Holly Willoughby, say This Morning fans

This Morning fans have already confessed their delight at Phillip Schofield's replacement, who is the "perfect fit".

It comes after the This Morning host quit the show and ITV after 21 years when he admitted to having an affair with a younger colleague.

His former co-star Holly Willoughby returned to the much loved daytime show earlier this week for the first time since Phil's departure.

As she made her comeback Holly was joined by Josie Gibson but after Wednesday's show viewers felt there was an even better pairing.

Holly was joined by fellow This Morning star Craig Doyle, who usually presents alongside Josie.

The new duo went down well with viewers as one person said: ""ABSOLUTELY should keep Craig on This Morning permanently! He is the perfect fit with Holly! #thismorning #craigdoyle."

"If anyone could save TM I think its Craig. Very good presenter and works better with Holly than a female presenter. #thismorning," added another.

"There’s such a warmth and calmness about Craig Doyle, Holly seems more relaxed with him too. Would not complain if he were to be permanent #ThisMorning," someone else wrote

A fourth quipped: "Craig Doyle’s an absolute joy isn’t he? He’s very natural & clearly gets on well with Holly. Could he be the perfect replacement for you know who? #ThisMorning."

"Can we have Craig Doyle permanently as Phil’s replacement? He and Holly just work so well together #thismorning @thismorning," said a fan.

Viewers were even more delighted when they spotted an accidental glimpse of behind-the-scenes fun.

After the cameras cut to Josie, who was on a canal boat to launch a new competition, Holly and Craig were overheard chatting about Spam, the processed meat.

The Irish presenter had previously shared his thoughts on the stuff during the segment, saying: "It tastes like cat food, sorry. That's just my opinion not yours, don't worry about that."

The two clearly didn’t realise they were still on air and Holly could be heard giggling as she told Craig to put down a bit of Spam he was holding.

During their exchange the cameras cut back to them briefly, and Craig was spotted standing up, while Holly had a quick stretch.
