Phillip Schofield's 'biggest supporter' set to be 'fall guy' in 'This Morning bloodbath'

Phillip Schofield’s time on This Morning could very soon be up, according to source reports.

But the telly presenter is not the only one in line for an axing as reports suggest a “seismic” summer shake-up is imminent.

The magazine show’s boss Martin Frizell could also be in line for the chop, according to reports.

TV presenter Phil, 61, is believed to have fallen out with Holly Willoughby, 42, after their friendship 'cooled' in recent months.

Sources claimed Holly distanced herself from Phillip and was left dumbfounded when she learnt through the press that his brother was on trial.

It reached the point that Phillip, supposedly unbeknownst to Holly and ITV, released a statement about their relationship.

After making an awkward return to This Morning this week, it’s now claimed that Phillip and his “supporter” Martin could be set for an axing amid ITV top brass’ desperate attempts to overhaul the show and cool the drama.

Holly Willoughby’s job is reported to be safe but a source has reportedly told The Sun : “This Morning is preparing for some seismic changes this summer – and Phil is lined up as the first major name for the chop when his contract expires this summer.

“It’s highly unlikely he’ll be back in September.Plans are being drawn up for a new look This Morning and, at the moment, Phil is not featuring in them.

“He has worked on the show for over two decades. Many feel it is time for some fresh blood.”

This Morning boss Martin Frizell could be closing following Phil out the door, according to the publication’s insider.

The source claimed: “There is talk behind the scenes of Martin also being knifed as a bit of a fall guy, too – which might save some of the even more senior executives at the broadcaster if things spiral further.”

Martin has been in charge of the show since 2016 but has been criticised over his handling of Queue-gate and the current reported row between Holly and Phil – which has been viewed by some as “calamitous”.

The source added: “The shake-up is going to be from the top down and no one, no matter their status, is bigger than the show.”
