Phillip Schofield reunited with mum, 84, after being separated due to pandemic

Phillip Schofield has been reunited with his mother after more of being kept apart by lockdown and Covid restrictions.

The 58-year-old This Morning star was thrilled to be reunited with his 84-year-old mother who journeyed from Cornwall to meet up with her son.

Phillip was excited to be back in the arms of his loving parent and explained to fans and followers on social media that he was travelling to the train station to collect her.

Taking to Instagram on Friday, Pip shared his excitement at the fact he was soon to be reunited with his mother, Pat, for the first time in months.

Sharing a selfie of himself online, Phil wrote: “Off to pick up my mum from the station!! First time I've seen her in a year.”

He later shared the moment he laid eyes on his mother as she walked through the train station clutching a number of bags.

He captioned the moment: “Her majesty has arrived,” alongside two joyful faced emojis.

Phil also shared a photo of himself hugging his mother along with the caption: “Mum hug” as well as two smiling emojis.

The duo looked thrilled to be back together after being kept physically apart for so long.

They hugged inside the station, while wearing face masks – as current UK rules dictate members of the public should wear face coverings while indoors and on public transport.

Phillip revealed earlier this year that his mother had been among the first to be fully vaccinated in the UK as she was welcomed by her local NHS brand to receive the inoculation – designed to protect everyone from the Covid-19 virus.

Explaining on air on ITV earlier this year, Phil said: “Mum was very lucky actually, she's not a billionaire, she's just down in Cornwall.

“She just happened to be on the list and they called her back, I think maybe towards the end of the period they might have some left over or whatever, and she got her second vaccine.”

Phil often shares photos and updates of his mother on social media – with the star posting snaps of them together whenever they unite.

His last update alongside his mother was in June 2020 – with Phillip noting even then that he hadn’t seen his mother in the flesh for some time as the UK was in the grips of lockdown at the time of the posting.

He wrote at the time: “Miss ya mum, hopefully get to see you soon,” along with the hashtag “thistimelastyear”.

Phil and his mum were photoed together – with the pair having a striking similar colour of hair.

Phil has been known as a ‘silver fox’ for many years since allowing his natural greys to shine – while his mum has similar silver locks of her own.
