Phillip Schofield offers to pay worried pensioner's energy bill

Phillip Schofield offered to pay a pensioner's energy bill today as she said she wasn't "eating or sleeping" after getting the large bill.

Patricia, 73, appeared on This Morning to try and get some advice from Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis.

Patricia said she's had a bill for £701.85 from Together Energy despite paying £45 every month via direct debit.

The pensioner said she'd received the bill from the company after she switched her energy provider.

Martin asked her if she'd been giving the company meter readings and she said: "I'm 73 I don't know how to read a meter, I wasn't giving them regular readings."

Martin explained that they had probably been estimating how much energy she was using and when it came to the final bill they had probably realised how much she'd really used.

But Patricia said a final meter reading hadn't been done and Martin promised to get one of his team to call her to help her or her teenage grandchildren to do it.

Patricia was thrilled and said: "Oh thank you I've not been eating or sleeping so thank you I'm so glad I got through."

Phillip and Holly rushed to reassure Patricia and Phillip said : "No don't worry Patricia hopefully it'll get sorted but we'll pay it for you don't worry if the worse comes to the worse."

And This Morning fans were quick to comment on Patricia's situation.

Keith said: "Phil Schofield just said they would pay a persons energy bill. Can you pay ours too? Very kind."

Mariam said: "God love her, hope Patricia sorts her bill out."

And Gary Enfield said: "Poor Patricia, it’s not her fault she can’t read a meter."
