Phillip Schofield mocks breathless This Morning caller - but viewers are divided

Phillip Schofield left This Morning co-host Alison Hammond in hysterics, as he took the mick out of a caller on Wednesday - while some viewers were not too pleased about it.

The telly host was amused and also puzzled, as one viewer kept breathing heavily down the phone during a game of Spin to Win.

Phil and Alison prepared to spin the prize-filled wheel one more time, as the lucky viewer answered the phone and said the correct password.

But they couldn't help notice that every time she spoke, she breathed heavily.

It got to the point that Phil asked her if she was okay, before Alison suggested it may be from her running around the house to answer the phone.

The viewer claimed this to be the case, and the hosts moved on.

She managed to secure £1,000 in cash as her prize, as well as the bonus prize of the This Morning goody bag.

Phillip look amused as he congratulated the caller, and she thanked the duo.

Suddenly, he began breathing heavily down his microphone as to imitate the caller.

After every couple of words, he breathed more and more leaving Alison in hysterics.

The caller didn't respond so probably didn't even notice, but those watching at home didn't all see the funny side.

One fan wrote: "He’s so rude not everyone can hear well on the phone and she maybe has breathing problems."

Another said: "Carol is going to have a phone and a breathing phobia considering how much they’ve taken the p**s out of her."

Meanwhile a third viewer who was amused wrote: "Philip taking the p**s out of the heavy breathing when the woman could have a problem is KILLING me."

This was echoed by another tweet that read: "The heavy breathing down the phone and lack of responses are killing me."

A fifth added: "Carol, love, stop breathing into the phone."

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
