Phillip Schofield 'mind-blown' by spoon trick to cook jacket potatoes in half the time

Phillip Schofield was left "mind-blown" after he learned how to cook a jacket potato in half the time.

TikTok user @johnlawrencedean regularly shares the best bits from our favourite TV shows, like when Phil Vickery showed the presenters of This Morning, Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, a handy life hack.

In the clip, Phil explains how to speed up the amount of time it takes to cook a jacket potato - and Phillip couldn't believe what he was hearing.

The TV chef can be seen putting a metal teaspoon at each end of a white potato as he said: "If you put one either end it will cook in half the amount of time."

"Is that like a heat element?" Holly asked.

Such a simple tip (TikTok/ITV)

Stunned by how simple the tip was, she said: "No way?"

Phillip, on the other hand, said: "Oh wait a second" as he gestured that he was mind-blown.

As Phil explained that the trick could also work by poking a metal skewer all the way through a potato, he said: "It will act as a heat transfer."

However, this method can only be used if you're cooking your potato in the oven - not the microwave.

The presenters were stunned (TikTok/ITV)

We repeat, this is not a tip for the microwave.

Putting metal in the microwave can cause a fire, as when enough electrons build up, it can cause sparks to jump between the metal and the electromagnetic transmitter.

Phillip wasn't the only one who was impressed with the hack, as a number of stunned viewers praised the tip in the comments.

One person said: "Just don't put it in the microwave."

Another asked: "Why don't they teach you stuff like that in school?"

A third said: "Woooooooah."

Someone else put: "Been doing this for years."

Whilst a few people said instead of putting the spoon in the potato you could just put it in the microwave for 10 minutes before you pop it into the oven.
