Phillip Schofield makes sly dig at Piers Morgan over This Morning award win

Phillip Schofield couldn't resist a dig at Piers Morgan as it was announced that This Morning had won a TV Choice award.

This Morning managed to beat ITV rival Good Morning Britain to clinch the crown for Best Daytime Show.

Alison Hammond shared the news, complete with yellow and blue confetti.

As they all celebrated, Phil cheekily quipped: "Thank you, sorry Piers!"

Earlier on, Holly Willoughby admitted that she almost ended up having to host the show alone today after Phil made an awkward blunder.

The 39-year-old opened the show today with Phil by her side, but explained that that almost hadn't been the case.

"It just didn't happen," Phil sighed.

"That's quite scary," Holly conceded. "So you had a last minute dash?"

Phil replied: "Yes! It's when you wake up and you look at your phone and your heart just goes, 'Boof!'"

Holly said: "It happens once a year though and at least you've got yours out of the way early on in the term."
