Phillip Schofield makes moving gesture to struggling This Morning viewer

Phillip Schofield made a lovely gesture on the show by offering help to a struggling viewer.

Patricia phoned in to This Morning on Thursday during a segment with Martin Lewis who was on hand to help with any money-related queries.

The 73-year-old explained on the ITV show that she had been handed a £701.85 energy bill after switching companies, all because she didn't know how to read the meter.

She said she hadn't been sending in gas or electricity readings to her supplier, saying: "I don't know how."

Martin explained to Patricia that in the absence of meter readings, it could mean she has been paying more each month than she should have been, or that when she switched companies she could have owed money.

"It's causing me not to eat or sleep," the desperate viewer told hosts Phillip and Holly Willoughby.

Quickly responding, Phil said: "No, no no no. Don't do that. Listen, one way or the other we'll fix this for you."

He then added: "If the worst comes to the worst we'll pay it for you."

Martin also offered the help of one of his team who would call Patricia. Clearly relieved, she replied: "Thank you very much. I'm so glad I got through to you."
