Phillip Schofield looks gobsmacked as This Morning return is marked in bizarre way

Despite some people being back at work for days now, for the presenters at ITV , it was their first day after the festive break.

And it seems they were all a little confused, as well as viewers, because the network has undergone a bit of a schedule change.

Especially Phillip Schofield who looked completely surprised the bizarre way his and Holly Willoughby's return was marked on This Morning.

The presenting pals were back on daytime this morning and because of the new schedule, they were on air from the earlier time of 10am giving fans an extra 30 minutes of the wonderful madness.

Holly, 38, said at the start of the show: "This feels really weird. We're only 30 minutes ealirer. It's the same show but it feels like we've never done this before," before the pair joked that viewers must be "sick of them".

It was a different way to start the show (ITV)

But as we said, it was the way the new start to 2020 was marked that seemed a little bizarre.

The team had sent Alison Hammond out to Liverpool to ring the Cathedral's bells as soon as the clock struck 10.

As the roving entertainment reporter put everything in to her latest gig, Schofe sat opened mouthed back in the studio at what he was witnessing and with Holly also looking slightly bewildered, it made quite the picture.

"Oh that's beautiful," Phil said before Holly added: "Look at them go."

Whilst the presenting line-up were thrilled, if not a little confused, by there new start time, viewers were again divided.

"They did all that malarkey just because #ThisMorning is starting 30 minutes earlier? I hope the job centre is watching," one criticised.

Another added: "So they’re basically going to fill this extra half an hour with complete and utter twaddle."

Whilst a third jokes: "Are #ThisMorning going to just fill the extra half an hour by slowing down there talking."

This Morning now airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
