Phillip Schofield praises paramedics after gardener suffers medical emergency

Phillip Schofield has heaped praise on the prompt and efficient work of the NHS' ambulance service.

The This Morning presenter took to Instagram on Wednesday to sing the praises of the emergency services after his neighbour's gardener had a severe reaction to a bee sting.

The 59-year-old posted an image of an ambulance outside his property to his Instagram Stories and informed his 3.1 million followers of the events that had unfolded.

On the image, the presenter wrote: "When the gardener next door is stung 3 times by a bee and goes into anaphylactic shock.

“And our incredible ambulance and paramedic team are here in 3 minutes!! We are SO lucky to have them."

He revealed that the paramedics really had saved the day and finished his post with lots of gratitude. "He’s going to be fine thanks to them, thank you," he concluded.

The NHS website describes anaphylaxis as a severe and potentially life-threatening reaction to a trigger, like an allergy.

It says symptoms of anaphylactic shock include feeling lightheaded, breathing difficulties, confusion and anxiety, and in some cases collapsing or losing consciousness.

Phillip is currently taking a break from his presenting duties over the summer holidays.

He has formed a tight bond with co-host Holly Willoughby and joked last month that he was disappointed that she will be hosting a new show with another man.

Speaking on The One Show, he made reference to the blonde beauty's new hosting role alongside Bradley Walsh on BBC's Take Off.

He joked: "Wow, that happened quickly. We break up for the summer and the next thing I know you're with another man!

"It's fine, I'm obviously devastated but I want the dog and the CD collection."

During his time off Schofe also attended the lavish wedding of Ant McPartlin which was described as "the showbiz wedding of the year".

Speaking to the Sunday Mirror, Phillip said: "It was amazing. It was really fun, really nice, warm and cheerful. I really enjoyed it."

Other famous faces at the do included David Walliams, Cat Deeley, Patrick Kielty and Frank and Christine Lampard.

The newlyweds and guests celebrated at a £100,000 reception at Heckfield Place hotel, where the bar served cocktails costing up to £250 each.
