Phillip Schofield issues health message after noticeable change on This Morning

Phillip Schofield was forced to issue a message about his health after a noticeable change on This Morning.

The TV presenter was back on screens on Monday morning with co-host Holly Willoughby.

The pair started the first show of the week outside the ITV studio, ready to reveal its festive makeover.

But as they opened the show, Phillip had to explain to viewers that he was well enough to be working on the show.

"Don't panic, we haven't changed his voice to protect his identity," Holly declared first after her co-star welcomed viewers to their latest show.

"What's going on?" she asked, turning to Phil.

He replied with his croaky voice: "I have been tested, I feel amazingly good but I have a touch of laryngitis."

Laryngitis is when your voice box or vocal cords in the throat become irritated or swollen.

"So you're just going to sound kind of sexy actually," Holly responded.

"I'm going to sound a little croaky today," Phillip responded, making his voice even deeper.

"It does mean you can't sing," Holly exclaimed to which he replied: "Probably the best Christmas show in the world."

He added: "Anyway, I feel fine. Just a bit croaky."

The hosting duo then cracked on with the show, bursting through a load of wrapping paper to show off the Christmassy studio.

Holly and Phil saw This Morning’s 2021 Christmas decorations for the first time.

An excited Holly said: "It’s Christmas," as she entered the new-look studio.

This year, the decorations include an impressive 22 Christmas trees, more than the show has ever had before.

There’s a life-size, moveable polar bear, over 500 cones and three sacks of holly from the This Morning forest, two chimney breasts, 65 wood panels, beautiful vintage books, and a fire.
