Phillip Schofield interrupts fiery This Morning obesity 'fat heroes' debate

Phillip Schofield was forced to interrupt a fiery obesity debate on This Morning.

The ITV presenter and co-host Holly Willoughby introduced the discussion about whether children need to have more overweight characters to look up to as well as the stigma of being heavier.

They were joined by Steve Miller, who hosted Fat Families on Sky in 2010, and Natasha Laramie, who calls herself the Fat Doctor.

But the pair soon clashed over their opposing views.

This left Phillip, 58, having to step in when they began bickering on-air.

"Don't talk at the same time, it's even harder with calls like this because you cut each other off," Schofe calmly asked.

"So Steve, why don't you go next?"

Things got tense when Natasha said: "When you're born into an affluent home, when you’re born white, when you’re born male, when you're both able-bodied when you're born cis-gender or heterosexual.

"When you're born all of those things, it means you're more privileged and your health will automatically be better.

"Irrespective of your weight and that's unfortunately difficult for people like Steven because he likes to blame the individual.

"And he says weight loss is something we can do but we actually have all the data to show…"

Phillip then jumped in and allowed Steve to reply: "I think what I'm actually saying is that I think it’s incredibly important to inspire and enthuse our nation to live their life non obese."
