Phillip Schofield 'has mind blown' by trick to cook jacket potatoes much quicker with spoon

This Morning presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby were left 'mind-blown' after learning how to cook a jacket potato in half the time.

Viewers were also impressive with the cooking hack, with one even saying 'Why don't they teach you stuff like that in school?'

The cooking hack has emerged after TikTok user @johnlawrencedean, who shares the best bits from TV shows, posted a clip of chef Phil Vickery showing This Morning presenters the handy life hack.

In the clip, Phil explains how to speed up the amount of time it takes to cook a jacket potato - and Phillip couldn't believe what he was hearing, the Mirror reports.

The TV chef can be seen putting a metal teaspoon at each end of a white potato as he says: "If you put one either end it will cook in half the amount of time."

Phil Vickery said: "Another great tip, teaspoon, in the potato, like so," He then shoved a tea soon handle first into the jacket potato.

He added: "If you put one either end, that cooks in half the amount of time."

Holly said: "Is that like a heat element?" and continued to repeat "no way" in shock.

Phil couldn't believe what he was hearing also and gestured with his hands that his mind was blown.

He said: "Oh wait a second, mind blown!"

Phil Vickery said: "That will heat, if you put another one that side, or a skewer.

"Heat transfer goes through and cooks in half the time."

Holly added: "Wow, that's amazing. Good tip."

However, this method can only be used if you're cooking your potato in the oven - not the microwave.

That's because metal in the microwave can cause a fire, as when enough electrons build up, it can cause sparks to jump between the metal and the electromagnetic transmitter.

Phillip wasn't the only one who was impressed with the hack, as a number of stunned viewers praised the tip in the comments.

One person said: "Just don't put it in the microwave."

Another asked: "Why don't they teach you stuff like that in school?"

A third said: "Woooooooah."

Someone else put: "Been doing this for years."

A few people said instead of putting the spoon in the potato you could just put it in the microwave for 10 minutes before you pop it into the oven.
