Phillip Schofield is said to have had a heart-to-heart with fellow television star John Barrowman on the day that he came out.
The 58-year-old This Morning presenter bravely came out as gay in a heartfelt social media message in February 2020.
The television star, who has been married to Stephanie Lowe for 27 years, then went on to speak about the topic with his co-presenter Holly Willoughby on This Morning.
John Barrowman, 53, has since revealed that he spoke to Phillip in the dressing room on the night that the news became public.
The Dancing On Ice judge, who has been with his partner Scott for over 27 years, appeared to comfort Phillip during their conversaion.
Speaking to OK! Magazine, John said he was so happy for Phil after he bravely opened up about his sexuality.
"I've known Phillip for years and I'd never imagined those headlines. I'm not saying I hasn't thought about it, but that's none of my business," John told the publication.
The TV personality continued: "I had a chat with him, the night it all came out in the press, in his dressing room and I saw his face.
John, who married his husband in California in 2013, explained that he recognised the expression on Phil's face all too well.
He added: "It's a face I've had before - upset, afraid and sad to be hurting other people. I said to him, 'It will get better, the people around you who love you will understand. You'll get through it.'
"I'm so pleased for him and hopefully it will lead to a greater happiness for him and his family."
Although it appears Phillip and Stephanie have separated in a romantic sense since his announcement, they are not divorcing so far.
In the last few months, they have been self-isolating with their two daughters at their lavish Oxfordshire home during the lockdown.
A representative for Phil has declined to comment.
