Phillip Schofield gutted as This Morning suffers technical blunder at crucial moment

Phillip Schofield was left feeling rather disappointed on Wednesday when This Morning suffered an unfortunate technical blunder.

Phillip, 59, and his temporary co-host Rochelle Humes were speaking to wildlife TV presenter Megan McCubbin when the dad-of-two decided to ask a personal question.

"I have a question for you..." Phillip said, but as Megan stayed silent, he added: "Oh if you're interested?"

He continued: "The bird feeder that you had, can you hear me okay? You've got that beautiful long bird feeder, I put one in the tree the other day, it's been nearly three weeks and not a single, solitary bird has gone anywhere near it."

As the screen went blank and Megan stayed silent, Phillip looked gutted and remarked: "Nah, I'll never know! I'll have to leave it up..."

Rochelle then added: "Oh there you go," before saying: "Oh we're back," as Megan reappeared on the screen and have Phillip some advice.

The technical blunder occurred just minutes before Phillip and Rochelle welcomed beauty journalist Ateh Jewel into the studio to show off some of the best lipsticks available right now.

As Ateh spoke about a variety of luxury products, she came to a Bobbi Brown lipstick called Orchid Noir.

Speaking about the lippy, Ateh said: "It makes me feel like I'm in a film nor film, like, 'Put your lips together and blow!'"

Rochelle immediately started giggling and replied: "You go girl!" as Phillip was left speechless with a rather shocked look on his face.

"I love it so much!"Ateh continued, before spotting Phillip's face and adding: "Film reference, Phillip!"

"Is it? What the hell?" Phillip replied as the two women continued laughing.

"Yes, it's a very clean film reference!" mum-of-three Rochelle reassured him.

Ateh was quoting the 1944 movie To Have and Have No, which stars Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
