Phillip Schofield gushes over support with touching post hours after he came out as gay

Phillip Schofield has broken his silence since revealing that he was gay on This Morning.

The much-loved presenter, 57, has taken to Instagram to share a touching message with fans who have shown their support after his incredibly brave announcement earlier today.

Taking to his stories, Schofe, wrote: "You will never know how important your support has been today," he began.

"I’ve read as much as I can. Please please, no matter your age or your thoughts TALK to someone."

"Don’t let your head beat you and hopefully you’ll find out that your friends & family have a remarkable ability to surprise you with their love and understanding."

He ended with the hashtag "be kind".

Earlier today , Phillip shared an emotional message on his Instagram story, discussing his sexuality for the first time.

"You never know what’s going on in someone’s seemingly perfect life, what issues they are struggling with, or the state of their wellbeing – and so you won’t know what has been consuming me for the last few years" he said.

"With the strength and support of my wife and my daughters, I have been coming to terms with the fact that I am gay."

"This is something that has caused many heartbreaking conversations at home."

He told viewers: "I have had to deal with this in my head for quite some time and as for Steph, as I said I can’t write in any statement how I feel about that woman."

"She is incredible, there is no one in my life that would have supported me in the way she has. She is astonishing."
