Phillip Schofield gives health update as his voice changes on This Morning

This Morning viewers were worried on Monday after Phillip Schofield's voice sounded "husky".

But the presenter, 59, told fans he was suffering with laryngitis and he felt "fine" and he had tested negative for coronavirus.

At the beginning of the show, Holly said: "Don't panic, we haven't changed his voice to protect his identity", before asking Phil: "What's going on?"

Phillip mouthed the words "I’m fine", before saying: "I have been fully tested. I feel amazingly good, but I have a touch of laryngitis."

Laryngitis is when your voice box or vocal cords in the throat become irritated or swollen.

Holly replied: "So you're just going to sound kind of sexy actually."

Phil drank hot water with honey during the show (ITV)

Holly and Phil saw This Morning’s 2021 Christmas decorations for the first time, with the pair bursting through wrapping paper to enter the festively decorated studio.

Fans were quick to wish Phillip well.

Taking to Twitter, Ugo Nnabuihe said: "I can hear Phillip Schofield's voice is not that good, so sorry that you are not so well today, get well soon, take care and have a nice and lovely day".

@baumflough said: "I know it doesn't hurt but please rest your voice. Drink lots of warm liquids @Schofe"

@I_dont_know_her said: "What the Darth Vader is going on with Phillip's voice?"

@MrRew9 said his voice was "Husky".

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV
