Phillip Schofield fans left devastated as popular ITV show axed

Phillip Schofield has been dealt a career blow after one of his popular shows was scrapped by ITV.

Schofe, who hosts Dancing On Ice and This Morning on the channel, has seen Five Gold Rings be cancelled.

ITV has pulled the plug on the programme due to uncertainty surrounding the ongoing Covid health crisis.

The pandemic has left the show suffering issues in production.

“It won’t be back on TV this autumn like it normally would and there are currently no plans to bring it back in the future," a TV source has revealed.

"Nooooo," wrote one fan on social media.

"Love this," said a second.

"Such a shame," another added, while a fourth asked: "Hmmm Covid or lack of viewers?"

Schofe is currently enjoying a summer break from the ITV This Morning studio, reports BirminghamLive.

He typically presents the show each Monday morning to Thursday morning during term time.

But he and co presenter Holly Willoughby are enjoying a summer break.

Phil has reunited with wife Steph and his kids during the break from our screens.

“This show has been a fantastic success for ITV, but the current climate has made things very tough indeed," the source added.

“TV production is extremely difficult while the virus is still around. That means some shows have to be dropped.”

Take Off with Bradley & Holly airs this weekend on BBC One at 6pm, meanwhile.

Back in 2019, Aunty Beeb pulled off a bit of a Christmas coup when they poached stalwart ITV stars Bradley Walsh (The Chase) and Holly Willoughby (This Morning) to present a new game show.
