Phillip Schofield calls Holly Willoughby his mother as she tells him off backstage

Phillip Schofield has boldly declared that Holly Willoughby has turned into his mother as she jokingly told him off backstage at This Morning.

The TV presenter, 57, was left with no choice but to post the funny video on his Snapchat to fans after Holly told him off for using his phone.

Phil told fans: "Holly has turned into my mother."

To which Holly, 39, jokingly replied: "Well you better get dressed, because we're on telly in a minute."

As Phil explained: "I was just sitting there, was on my phone and she said 'shouldn't you be going to get dressed."

Holly kept up with the joke as she told him: "Stop looking at your screen no more screen time. Time to go do some work. Come on, off you pop!"

Looking like a child who's just been told off, Phil said: "Okay."

The pair recently explained why This Morning is still on air despite the UK's lockdown.

Britain was ordered into an unprecedented lockdown amid the  coronavirus  outbreak - but This Morning remains on our screens.

During the show, Holly said: "Lets start by explaining, probably actually for the first time ever, why we are here today."

Phillip revealed the government has classed the show as an "essential service" because of the important content they provide to viewers.

He said: "The government has classed us as an essential service for the time being to bring you the latest news on the virus.

"To answer your concerns with our doctors, to offer useful advice and to hopefully lighten the load as only This Morning knows how."

Holly explained they were running with a skeleton staff from now on with lots of people working from home and regular behind-the-scenes services cut back to an "absolute minimum".

The caring presenter called on viewers to ask questions at this worrying time so they could put their minds at rest.
