Phillip Schofield brands the government 'miserable devils' for easing lockdown on a Monday

Phillip Schofield did not hold back on Thursday's This Morning as he spoke about lockdown restrictions easing on March 29.

The dad-of-two is very much looking forward to catching up with friends or family, but he's not exactly thrilled about it being on a Monday.

Speaking to his co-host Holly Willoughby, Phil said: "As of Monday, the rule of six returns. What were they thinking doing it on a Monday?

“That’s exactly what they were thinking!" mum-of-three Holly replied.

"Why not do it on a Sunday, you miserable devils!" Phillip added, referring to the Government and their roadmap for lifting lockdown.

Holly suggested: "I guess they’re just ekeing it out in the hope that you won’t do anything for another week really."

"Yeah but how bad’s your head going to be on Tuesday?" Phillip then remarked, giving his co-host a sarcastic look.

With a grin on her face, 40-year-old Holly paused for a few seconds before replying: "Yes, that’s a very good point!"

The TV duo then moved the conversation on to the possibility of drinkers requiring a vaccine in order to go to the pub.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson recently said: "I do think that the basic concept of vaccine certification should not be totally alien to us."

Phillip had a strong opinion on this too and was keen to share his views with people watching at home.

"It looks utterly absurd because bearing in mind where we are with the vaccination rollout now, and today's new is make sure you take up your invitation to take the jab if you're over 50," the dad-of-two said.

The TV duo also discussed the idea of needing to have the vaccine before going to a pub (ITV)

"So that's the over 50's, it's going to be some considerable time before the under 50's are vaccinated, but bearing in mind a lot of people who go to the pub are going to be in their 20s, 30s and 40s. So what happens if you're 20 or 30?

"Surely then what we've created is a 'have, have not' society for a period of time, and if that is the case, well if you're under 50 you can't go to the pub, or maybe you can't fly, or go out for a meal...

"That's going to create an enormous - quite rightly - amount of resentment," he added.

*This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
