Phillip Schofield 'blames' Holly Willoughby for his new obsession with crystals

Phillip Schofield has been exploring the pseudoscientific alternative-medicine practice of crystal healing.

And the This Morning host, 59, joked that he 'blames' his new hobby on spending too much time with his colleague and pal Holly Willoughby.

Taking to his Instagram Stories on Tuesday morning, he revealed that he had left one of his prized amethyst geodes outside overnight in order to let the special pink super moon, which was visible in the sky on Monday night, 'cleanse' the glittering rock.

Alongside a snap of the violet quartz - which crystal healing fans believe relieves an individual from stress and strain, soothes irritability, balances mood swings, dispels anger, rage, fear and anxiety - the silver fox typed: "Put my amethyst outside last night 'to be cleansed by the super moon'."

Revealing how Holly, 40, was the person to introduce him to the alternative belief of gemstones possessing special powers, he ITV favourite continued: "I’m spending waaaaay too much time with @hollywilloughby."

Phil then added a laughing with tears emoji to the post.

In January, TV star Holly shared how she uses crystals for healing and turns to different stones for purifying her home, to giving herself energy and even to stop her son's nightmares.

While there is no scientific evidence to support the use of crystals, they are touted by fans as an ancient form of medicine that can promote the flow of good energy.

Holly shared her love of crystals with fans when she revealed they had been her solution to her youngest son's nightmares.

The mother-of-three told This Morning viewers she had placed a piece of green fluorite beside six-year-old Chester's bed to ensure he has a quiet night.

Holly's disclosure came as she and Phillip discussed healing crystals with a visiting expert.

She revealed: "Chester sleeps with a bit of green fluorite and the last four nights it's disappeared down the back of his bed and he's had nightmares the last four nights.

"So I pulled the bed out and got it, last night he slept through fine.

"I know there's no science to this but that is something you go, well, if that helps, it helps.

Holly has long been open about her use of crystals, sharing a recent picture of herself taking a moment to meditate before work while holding a crystal ball.

This came after she shared her calming "morning ritual" back in October, in which she placed a tealight and a crystal on her kitchen counter, while white sage incense burned in a copper pot.

"Morning rituals... #whitesage for purification not inhalation before you ask!" Holly explained in the caption.

Holly has also shared pictures of herself wearing a necklace of the stones around her neck, saying she was "rockin and rechargin".
