Phillip Schofield admits ITV's This Morning is 'holding on by skin of teeth' amid coronavirus

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield have continued to bring ITV viewers This Morning live from the studio amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The presenting duo have been making attempts to lift the nation's spirits as more people self-isolate and work from home.

"Still here!" Phil joked on yesterday's episode, before Holly added: "For now."

On today's show [March 18] Phillip admitted he and the This Morning crew were "holding on by the skin of their teeth".

It doesn't come as a surprise as many shows have discontinued filming or suspended their live audience in a bid to protect themselves and others amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Discussing the current TV schedule on This Morning, Phillip said: "Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway will go out without an audience, it will be a very very  different show without the studio audience.

"We've also just heard that EastEnders has postponed filming until further notice, they've said 'in light of the spread of Covid-19 after much consideration it's been decided that filming of EastEnders will be postponed until further notice', that also goes for Casualty, Holby and Doctors."

He then added: "It's bound to happen, I mean everyone, we're all holding on by the skin of our teeth."

This Morning's guest Matthew Wright then pointed out there were measures in place to allow everyone to isolate.

He added: "Staffing has been scaled right back, we do our own make up... things are changing."

It comes after Piers Morgan revealed Good Morning Britain was working with a skeleton crew after his co-star Susanna Reid went into isolation. And Peaky Blinders and Line of Duty has also suspended filming.
