Phillip Schofield admits Dancing on Ice is 'holding on by its fingernails'

Phillip Schofield has admitted Dancing on Ice is 'holding on by the finger nails' after another star quit the new series.

After Sunday's live show was axed and replaced with best of special The Greatest Show on Ice, Phillip and presenting partner in crime Holly Willoughby spoke about how weird if felt now being rink side at the weekend on Monday's This Morning.

Phillip then appeared to cast doubt on the live shows resuming this weekend when he said: "Hopefully we are back up and running with that next week. With a bit of luck. Who knows frankly?"

Holly quickly said: "It will be fine. Remain positive."

On Monday evening, the new series of Dancing on Ice was dealt another blow when Jason Donovan announced he had withdrawn due to an ongoing back injury.

The Aussie star said he was "devastated" but acting on "the advice of my medical team in the show."

Jason's departure has led to some fans branding this year's show 'cursed' and reacting to Boris Johnson's road map and the fact both This Morning and Dancing on Ice are still on air, Phillip then turned to Holly at the start of Tuesday's show and said: "Can you imagine how weird it's going to feel after all we've been through since last March; staying on air, holding on by our fingernails.

"And it's still happening now with Dancing on Ice on Sundays - we're all holding on by our fingernails. The incredible crew putting the show on air while they can."
