Phillip Lindsay not worried about Broncos’ red-zone offense

The Broncos’ red-zone offense has not been good enough through three weeks of preseason. More often than not, the offense has had to settle for a field goal when inside the opponent’s 20-yard line.

Despite the lack of first-team touchdowns, running back Phillip Lindsay isn’t too worried about Denver’s red-zone production.

“We haven’t put our red zone stuff in, it’s just kind of vanilla,” Lindsay said after a 24-15 loss to the 49ers on Monday. “There’s a lot of things we have coming up here that when the season starts, it’s going to help us out. This is preseason.

“A lot of times people look at it as a team thing, but you’ve got to look at it as you’re trying to find bits and pieces and individuals that can help out and things like that. Right here it’s just about man on man, who’s going to win their battle?”

That’s a fair point from Lindsay that fans should take into consideration. Broncos offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello doesn’t want to give away too much in preseason so Denver has been running a somewhat basic offense.

If the offense continues to struggle in the regular season, then there will be reason for alarm. For now, though, it’s not a big concern.
