Phillip Cocu talks Derby County team selection for Nottingham Forest clash

Derby County boss Phillip Cocu is keeping his cards close to his chest over his team to face Nottingham Forest.

The Reds tackle the Rams in the second round of the Carabao Cup at the City Ground on Tuesday night (7:45pm).

Cocu made 11 changes to Derby's team for their first round tie away to League Two opponents Scunthorpe United.

One of those changes, young defender Lee Buchanan, scored the only goal of the game.

Goalkeeper Ben Hamer, Krystian Bielik, Graeme Shinnie, Jason Knight, Jamie Paterson, Curtis Davies, Max Lowe, Max Bird, Mason Bennett and Jack Marriott also came into the team on the night.

Asked if he is considering making as many changes again, Cocu said: "It is possible. I don't say I do, we have to take a look at the players, take a look at the game, and take a look at the game on Saturday (at Brentford).

"I also believe, sometimes, that in the first cup game, yes, they did a good job and they would play the second game, a few of the players.

"If you have confidence in your players, they should be able to play."

"It is an important game, it is a big game but it shouldn't have to change our approach to a game or how we want to play the game," he added.

"It will be more intense than some other games, so you have to be prepared."
