Phillip and Holly catch Backworth couple 'at it' on This Morning in mortifying Spin to Win moment

Phillip Schofield was convinced he caught a Geordie couple 'at it' as a caller took a while to answer the phone to play Spin to Win on Thursday's This Morning.

The daytime programme's own game show has thrown up all manner of awkward moments in its time from rule breaks to Phillip fixing the game to get people better prizes and people giving the password for the wrong day.

But Matthew from Backworth give Spin to Win arguably it's most hilarious and definitely most unexpected moment to date when he answered the phone.

After eventually giving the correct password after a delay which nearly saw Matthew cut off, Phillip asked him: "What were you doing? Why did it take you so long to answer the phone?"

He replied: "Sorry, we're just busy," to which Phillip hit back: "Busy? Busy with what?! What's keeping you busy Matthew."

The Geordie lad replied: "You know, just enjoying the time together."

As the penny seemed to drop for an open mouthed Phillip, he said: "Hang on a second, hold on, hold on hold on..." Co-host Holly interrupted to shout "no, no, no, no!"

But having none of it, Phillip responded: "Yes, yes, yes...Matthew who are you in lockdown with?"

Phillip was genuinely shocked (ITV)

After Matthew replied "My wife," and told the presenting pair where he was calling from, Phillip asked him: "And are you having a nice morning? Is your wife close by yep?"

He then turned to Holly and exclaimed: "WE'VE JUST CAUGHT THEM AT IT!!!"

Matthew replied with a muffled "no no" before Phillip joked: "Everyday something new!"

After Matthew had won a UK holiday in the game, Phillip quipped: "Enjoy your morning...crack on!

He then turned to the camera and said: "We could be calling you during tomorrow's show, so be warned!"
