Phillip and Holly back This Morning caller over husband's 'unfair' pub demands as viewers divided

Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby backed a This Morning caller after being left in disbelief at her husband's 'unfair' demands about going to the pub after lockdown, but viewers at home were divided.

The presenting duo were mid-way through Tuesday's show when they were joined by regular guest Vanessa Feltz for a phone-in entitled 'Am I Being Unreasonable?'

One of the callers was Lucy who explained to the three of them that her other half had informed her she'd need to stay at home and look after their 18 month old child as from summer he'd be "catching up with the pubs."

Reacting in shock at what she'd just heard, Holly questioned: "Did you just say he's got to catch up with the pubs?!"

Lucy replied: "That was his words, yeah," to which Holly told her: "That's incredible."

Equally surprised by Lucy's plight, Vanessa reacted: "Everyone is looking to catching up with partying, nights out - who doesn't want to do all those things?! But you've got to have a chance to do the same thing.

"You want to go to the pub; there are all sorts of things you want to do to let loose and have fun.

"He's got to share the child care, he's got to be reasonable about this. You're not being unreasonable for saying he doesn't get hog all the fun, that's not equal and that's not fair."

After listening to Lucy's problem and Vanessa's take on it, Phillip told her: "That does seem a bit unfair. Do you think there is a compromise on offer here?"

Lucy said no to which Vanessa shouted: "There has to be," and Phillip remarked: "Even though you've phoned in, you've got advice from Vanessa. Do you think he's going to do it anyway?"

Lucy replied: "That's what he does. I'll say no, kick up a fuss and I'll plan something but he'll do what he wants."

Holly then asked: "How long is it going to take him to catch up," to which Phillip quipped: "There's a lot of pubs!"

And having the final word, Vanessa said: "Dig in! Tell him 'you're not the only one who who's been in lockdown mate!'

"Tell him 'I have needs, I'm the mother of your child - I need to catch up too!"

While Phillip, Holly and Vanessa all sided with Lucy, This Morning viewers were torn. Backing Lucy, one tweeted: "Lucy’ needs to ditch the boyfriend!" and, in agreement another posted: "Lucy....bin him off!"

However others blamed her, with another reacting: "Lucy - your boyfriend has spent more than enough time with you through not one, not two, but THREE lockdowns! Leave him the f**k alone!" and a fourth ranting: "Sounds like Lucy’s bf is sick of her. And the fact that she won’t compromise suggests he might have a point"
