The Phillies traded Howie Kendrick and cash considerations to the Washington Nationals on Friday for 21-year-old left-handed pitching prospect McKenzie Mills and international amateur signing bonus space, the Phillies announced.
Mills, a 6-foot-4 prospect out of Marrieta, Ga., is 12-2 with a 3.01 ERA for the Nationals' single-A affiliate. He's tallied 118 strikeouts and 22 walks. He was ranked the 18th-best prospect in the Nationals system by MLB.com.
