Philippe Sandler sends message to Man City fans ahead of move to Vincent Kompany's Anderlecht

Philippe Sandler insists his Manchester City career is not over as he prepares to join Anderlecht on loan.

Sandler, 22, signed for City last summer from PEC Zwolle, and made two first team appearances in his debut season.

He is now set to join Anderlecht on loan to link back up with Vincent Kompany, who left City this summer to become player-manager at the Belgian side.

Kompany acted as a mentor to Sandler in the last 12 months, and City will hope their former captain will continue to improve the young Dutchman at Anderlecht - potentially playing alongside him at the back.

Ahead of the move, Sandler took to Twitter to assure City fans that his long-term future remains at the Etihad, despite his immediate future lying in Belgium.

He tweeted: "Not a farewell, but a short pause. Let's touch the blue sky together again. Thank you for your support!!"

Sandler leaves Pep Guardiola with three senior centre-backs after Kompany's departure, with youngster Eric Garcia set to provide back-up from the academy.

City are in the market for reinforcements at the back, but they are reluctant to pay Leicester's asking price for Harry Maguire.
