Philippe Coutinho's latest comments confirm Liverpool set for huge financial windfall

Philippe Coutinho has all but confirmed Liverpool will be getting their final financial installment for him.

The Brazilian left Liverpool for Barcelona back in 2018, with the Catalan giants splashing out a staggering £106million up front along with the promise of £36m in add-ons.

Liverpool have received the vast majority of this money, but £4.4m is outstanding.

Coutinho spent last season on loan at Bayern Munich, where he won the Champions League, and was expected to leave Barcelona in this summer's transfer window.

If the Brazilian had left then Liverpool would have never got their hands on the final payment.

But new Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman is a big fan of the midfielder and has seemingly made him a key component of his new-look side.

Coutinho has featured in all three of Barcelona's opening fixtures, and if this continues, he will trigger the final appearance-related bonus in his contract.

The former Liverpool star spoke to the press following Barcelona's 1-1 draw with Sevilla last time out, in which he netted for the home side.

In the interview he confirmed his intentions to stay at the Camp Nou and to be a crucial part of everything going forward at the club, which is good news for Liverpool.

"I really want to work hard and be involved in important things," he told Marca.

"We have played three difficult games and we will continue to work hard and get used to playing in the coming weeks."
