Philippe Coutinho's future has been cast into further uncertainty after he was left out of Bayern Munich's squad on Sunday.
The Bundesliga leaders travelled to Union Berlin for their first match since football resumed in Germany amid the coronavirus outbreak.
However, on-loan Barcelona man Coutinho did not feature for Bayern as he continues to recover from an ankle injury.
Coutinho, 27, underwent surgery during the break from football but a blow to his rehabilitation means he remains on the sidelines.
Already viewed as surplus to requirements at Barcelona, Coutinho's latest setback raises further questions about his future.
Bayern have made it known that they will not activate the option to buy Coutinho at the end of his season-long loan.

And manager Hansi Flick was unable to provide any clarity on Coutinho's long-term future.
Speaking before the match with Union Berlin, Flick said: "I can't say what will happen with him after the season.
"Philippe is a good guy and an excellent footballer. I really enjoy working with him.
"We hope he can be back with us again soon and play some games before the end of the season."
Coutinho has shown glimpses of form this season, scoring nine goals and assisting eight times in all competitions.
The former Liverpool man is linked with a return to the Premier League, with Manchester United the latest in a string of clubs linked with him.
Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle are also potential suitors, with Barcelona keen to offload their £142million signing.
The Spanish giants are desperate to raise funds for a summer spending spree on Lautaro Martinez and Neymar.
Inter Milan striker Martinez is expected to cost £97million, while it will take a sensational bid to bring Neymar back to Camp Nou from Paris Saint-Germain.
The Brazil superstar left Barcelona in 2017 in a world-record £198million transfer to Parc des Princes.
