Philippe Coutinho's fresh transfer predicament as Barcelona linked with Richarlison

Philippe Coutinho's future is very much hanging in the balance.

The Barcelona midfielder is currently out on loan at Bayern Munich, following his failed £142million transfer to Camp Nou.

Barcelona had hoped that Coutinho was going to impress on loan at Germany, and that the Bundesliga giants would stump up the cash to make the switch permament.

The Catalan's have already shown signs they're heading in another direction by signing the likes of Antoine Griezmann, and a number of creative midfielders, including Frenkie de Jong.

But Bayern Munich have indicated they have no intention of signing Coutinho permanent, meaning he will return to Spain at the end of the season.

Coutinho, therefore, has a predicament on his hands.

The former Liverpool star could knuckle down at Barcelona and attempt to impress new boss Quique Setien in a bid to win back his place in the first team.

Alternatively, he could consider his options and hope his agent can broker him a move to another top club in Europe.

The former seems most likely, given a move to Barcelona was Coutinho's dream all along, but signs from Setien this January fail to scream positivity.

Everton have vehemently denied that Barcelona offered them £85m for Richarlison (EMPICS Sport)

Barcelona were this week linked with a big-money transfer for Richarlison.

Everton have vehemently denied that the Catalan club offered them £85m for the Brazilian, but regardless of his, it is proof Barcelona are looking for new attacking-midfield options.

This says a lot about Setien's plans for his club, and perhaps indicates Coutinho isn't in them.
