Philippe Coutinho's celebration vs Man Utd catches the eye of fans

Manchester United were handed a lesson by Barcelona on Tuesday evening.

After Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side lost the first leg of their quarter-final tie 1-0 at Old Trafford, they were always going to be up against it in the second contest in Catalonia.

And so it proved to be.

Although things looked promising for them in the opening few minutes, United were distinctly second best for the rest of the contest, and fell 2-0 down on the night following a Lionel Messi double - the second of which came after a dreadful error from David de Gea.

Barca maintained their dominance into the second half, and it was soon 3-0 just after the hour mark when ex-Liverpool man Philippe Coutinho scored a stunning trademark goal from distance.

The goal came after the Brazilian's seemingly tumultuous recent few months at Barca, where he's struggled to hold down a place in the team and has often been criticised by fans.

And it wasn't hard to spot Coutinho's rather interesting reaction to the goal.

Fans on social media were quick to comment, even if they were divided over who the gesture was aimed at.

Who do you reckon he was aiming it at?
