Philippe Coutinho's agent 'swarmed by Premier League clubs' ahead of transfer window

Philippe Coutinho's representatives have been 'swarmed by Premier League clubs' ahead of a potential summer transfer, according to reports from Spain.

The midfielder completed a £142million transfer to Barcelona from Liverpool back in January 2018, but things just haven't worked out for Coutinho.

He has struggled to nail down a place in the Barcelona first team and has failed to get the Nou Camp fans on side.

Ernesto Valverde started Coutinho in the first leg of Wednesday night's Champions League semi-final against his former club Liverpool.

The talented Brazilian failed to have any real impact on the match and was eventually replaced by Nelson Semedo.

As Coutinho made way he was met by a chorus of jeers from the Barcelona fans.

Both Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez leaped to the defence of their team-mate after the match, with the Argentine telling Movistar Plus: "We are in a defining moment and it is not time to criticize anyone.

"It is time to make everything happen as we talked at the beginning of the season.

"It is ugly to see a team-mate get booed like that, we must all be together and support."

Suarez meanwhile posted a picture of him alongside Coutinho to Instagram with the caption: "We are strong together".

Coutinho was previously linked with a move to Manchester United, and according to Spanish publication AS, there have been a swarm of clubs who have made contact with Barcelona over possibly signing the Brazilian.

Which Premier League clubs have made contact has not been reported, but the Red Devils are assumed to be among them.
