Philippe Coutinho is set to stay at Barcelona this summer, according to the Brazilian’s agent.
Coutinho endured a difficult first full campaign at the Nou Camp after making the £142million transfer from Liverpool in January 2018.
He came in for criticism from large sections of the Barca support towards the end of the season, leaving his future at the Catalan giants in doubt.
The playmaker, currently on international duty at the Copa America with Brazil, has been linked with Paris Saint-Germain while Manchester United have also been keeping tabs on his situation.
But the player’s representative Kia Joorabchian has now claimed that Barcelona ’s general manager, Pep Segura, wants to keep the player.
He told RMC on Wednesday: “I spoke in the past few days with Pep Segura in Barcelona.
“He told me that the club did not want to sell Coutinho this summer - whatever the price.
"And we have had no contact with PSG for Coutinho.”
This development comes amid claims that Barcelona were willing to use Coutinho as a sweetener to sign former Nou Camp star Neymar.
Barcelona are keen to re-sign the Brazilian superstar but are likely to have to send members of their current squad in the opposite direction as part of the deal.
And the La Liga champions could use Coutinho as a sweetener, with the Brazilian reportedly keen to make the switch to Paris.
Coutinho was on PSG's radar before he joined Barcelona and is said to have always been an admirer of the French giants.
It is unlikely that he'll embark on a new journey with Manchester United after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side failed to secure Champions League football for the forthcoming campaign.
