Philippe Coutinho's agent issues transfer update amid Manchester United links

Philippe Coutinho’s future at Barcelona will not be affected if Antoine Griezmann seals a blockbuster transfer to Camp Nou.

That’s according to the agent of the Brazilian ace, who insists that the potential arrival of the Atletico Madrid forward will not lead to the La Liga champions looking to offload Coutinho.

Griezmann announced on Tuesday that he will leave Atletico this summer, when his release clause drops to €120million. And that audacious price-tag will mean Barcelona will have to balance the books.

As such, there has been speculation that Ernesto Valverde’s side will look to cash in on the former Liverpool star Coutinho, with wild speculation suggesting Manchester United are keen on a move.

The MEN, however, understands that a move for the Brazil international is extremely unlikely - and that view is echoed by his agent, Giuliano Bertolucci, who says Griezmann’s arrival will not change Coutinho’s position.

Manchester United fans all make the same joke after Rio Ferdinand's Instagram post

Man Utd legend Ryan Giggs claims three Man City stars could walk into any Premier League team in history

"It's untrue that Griezmann is going to replace Philippe at Barcelona, I don't know why they are saying that,” he told Spanish outlet AS.

"I don't know about that and that's why I don't want to talk anymore, but it's false."

The 26-year-old has struggled to settle in Catalonia following his exit from Anfield 18 months ago and has been heavily linked with a return to the Premier League, where Liverpool and Chelsea are reportedly suitors for his signature.
