Philippe Coutinho raises further doubts over Barcelona future with Copa America comment

Philippe Coutinho has said he does not know what his future holds as speculation surrounding the Barcelona forward's club career refuses to go away.

Coutinho moved to the Nou Camp from Liverpool in January 2018 but has struggled during his 18 months as a Barca player and was jeered by his own fans at times last season.

The 26-year-old celebrated his stunning goal against Manchester United in the Champions League by sticking his fingers in his ears in a message to his critics.

That didn't go down well with the natives and it ultimately backfired as he was whistled in Barca's first home match following their humiliation against Liverpool at the beginning of May.

Coutinho was hooked on the hour at Anfield after a dismal display against his former club.

The former Inter Milan attacker is currently on international duty with Brazil at the Copa America and, while he wouldn't say too much about his future, he admitted his Barca career is in doubt.

"I have a contract with Barcelona," Coutinho said. "I was always my will to succeed in this club, but now I am totally concentrated here [with Brazil] and about the future [with Barca] we do not know what will happen.

"Many things that come out in the media are simply not true but as for my future we do not know what is going to happen, that is the truth."

Despite speculation linking Coutinho with a move to United, the MEN understands United have no interest in signing the Brazil forward.
