Philippe Coutinho on what Liverpool star Roberto Firmino told him ahead of Bayern Munich transfer

Philippe Coutinho spoke to former Liverpool team-mate Roberto Firmino for advice before moving from Barcelona to Bayern Munich.

The Brazilian duo played together at Anfield for two and a half years until Coutinho joined Barcelona in January 2018 in a club record £142million move.

The Camp Nou switch didn't really work out for Coutinho and he found himself out of favour before making the transfer to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich this summer in a season-long loan deal.

The attacking midfielder spoke to Firmino before joining the German champions with the Liverpool star having previously spent four years with Hoffenheim before joining the Reds in 2015.

"I talked with Roberto Firmino [who knows the Bundesliga from his time in Hoffenheim] about the intensity of the Bundesliga and the tight matches there," Coutinho told SportBild via the Express .

"He told me a lot about the different Bundesliga teams.

"Some of my Brazil team-mates asked me how things are going at Bayern.

"I told them how happy I am to be there.

"I had a great welcome from my team-mates, club, fans, media and want to repay it with goals and performances on the pitch."

Coutinho has played in both of Bayern’s first two matches in the Bundesliga this season against Schalke and Mainz.

The Brazilian enjoyed five impressive years at Liverpool scoring 54 goals in 201 appearances.
