Philippe Coutinho and two other players Everton are 'favourites' to sign under Rafa Benitez

Rafa Benitez was finally named as Everton’s new manager on Wednesday afternoon.

After well over a week of speculation, the Spaniard was officially announced as the Blues’ new boss, signing a three-year deal with the club.

But as well as all eyes being on the hunt for a new manager, Everton fans have also had their eye on the upcoming transfer window.

How likely are Everton to sign some of the big names that have been mentioned in the rumour mill in the last few weeks?

SkyBet has the latest transfer odds - accurate at the time of writing - and it makes for interesting reading.

It's important, however, to take most of it with a pinch of salt. The players listed below are the names who Everton are apparently 'favourites' to sign this summer…

Philippe Coutinho - 3/1

The Brazilian left Liverpool for Barcelona in a club-record deal back in January 2018, but has endured a difficult time in Spain as he struggled to recreate his Anfield form.

The Spanish giants tried to sell the 28-year-old in the summer of 2019 but were unable to find a buyer and he ended up spending the season on loan at Bayern Munich.

Despite winning the treble, Coutinho's game-time in Bavaria was limited by injury and the Bundesliga giants decided against signing him permanently following his bit-part role.

Given a second chance at Camp Nou by Ronald Koeman last summer, Coutinho started the season well, but has not played since December after rupturing his meniscus.

Reports in Spain have indicated over the last few months that Barca will look to sell Coutinho this summer as new president Joan Laporta plans a squad overhaul.

As well as the Blues, Coutinho has also been linked with a host Premier League clubs, including a return to Liverpool and Leicester City.

Pedro Neto - 6/1

As reported by the ECHO last month, Neto has admirers at Goodison Park having impressed in the Premier League over the last couple of seasons.

The 21-year-old signed for the Midlands-based club back in the summer of 2019 from Lazio and it took a little bit of time for the youngster to settle into life in England.

Since then he has gone from strength to strength in the top-flight and has been linked with a host of clubs in the last few months.

A knee injury picked up back in April means he will be out until November or even January depending on his rehabilitation.

But before injury cut his season short, the Portugal international scored five goals and created nine chances in 31 Premier League appearances for Wolves last season.

And given that return, along with Everton’s struggles out wide last season, it is easy to see why the Blues are being linked with the winger.

Ross Barkley - 7/1

Barkley spent last season on loan at Aston Villa from Chelsea.

An Everton Academy graduate, Barkley rose through the Goodison ranks before establishing himself in the first team under Roberto Martinez.

But having flirted with the idea of a transfer to Chelsea in the summer of 2017, the deal fell through at the last minute - which ultimately cost the Blues a lot of money.

A few months later, though, Barkley was unveiled by the west London club for a fee believed to be around £15m.

The midfielder made a bright start to life at Villa Park, but injuries and a loss of form has dampened expectations of a permanent deal being struck with Dean Smith's side this summer.

Barkley still has two years left on his deal at Stamford Bridge, and the bookies have listed the Blues as his most likely destination this summer.
