There are some high hopes that the Indianapolis Colts will see their offense return to form with a new quarterback under center in the 38-year-old Philip Rivers.
With Frank Reich leading the charge along with some help from offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni, Rivers will be looking to get the passing offense back to its respected place.
Having been with the team since signing a one-year deal in March, Rivers echoes the thoughts of Reich in that the unit will be versatile.
“I think Colts fans should expect a real versatile, dynamic attack. The one thing I can say that has been confirmed is the guys up front and the way we run the football is pretty awesome,” Rivers said Wednesday. “Obviously, we are all excited about that. I’m fired up about that. So that’s where it starts and usually good things come from that. We are going to be very multiple and very dynamic.”
The Colts have the makings to be an offense that wins in multiple ways. While there are some questions about Rivers’ arm strength, he showed enough on tape during the 2019 season that there is plenty left in the tank. He should find a rapport with T.Y. Hilton quickly while the others try to carve out a role.
Indy also now prides itself on being an offense that runs the ball efficiently and violently. Behind the elite offensive line, the Colts now feature a two-headed attack in Marlon Mack and Jonathan Taylor while Nyheim Hines works in the passing game.
It certainly will be interesting to see how much improved the Colts offense is, but we should continue to expect multiple looks from the unit throughout the season.
