Philadelphia Eagles plan to sign Tim Tebow

April 19--The Philadelphia Eagles have made some eyebrow-raising moves this off-season, but their next one could be the most surprising: signing Tim Tebow.

The Eagles reportedly will sign the left-handed quarterback Monday, bringing him on as a fourth quarterback for their off-season program.

The news was first reported Sunday by Fox's Jay Glazer, and was confirmed by Tom House, Tebow's throwing coach for the last few years.

"I knew a little while ago that the Eagles had offered him a contract," House told The Times in a phone interview, declining to characterize how Tebow has improved under his tutelage.

A first-round pick by Denver in 2010, Tebow captivated the NFL in 2011 with a string of come-from-behind victories and an overtime win against Pittsburgh in the playoffs. Ultimately, his unconventional, run-first style wasn't a fit for the Broncos, and because of concerns about his throwing accuracy, there wasn't much of a market for his services.

Tebow was used sparingly by the New York Jets in 2012, and was cut by New England in its 2013 training camp. Since December 2013, he has been working as a college football analyst for ESPN.

Last month, Philadelphia shook up its quarterback depth chart by trading Nick Foles to St. Louis for Sam Bradford.
