Philadelphia Eagles fire head coach Doug Pederson after five seasons

Doug Pederson is out as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL.com.

The Eagles head coach was facing an uncertain future after going 4-11-1 this season and experiencing a falling-out with quarterback Carson Wentz.

Pederson and owner Jeffrey Lurie’s initial meeting didn’t go well after the head coach suggested promoting from within for several key positions.

Pederson has a 46-39-1 record over five seasons with the Eagles and in 2017, he became just the eighth head coach to win a Super Bowl in his first two years.

Philadelphia defeated the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII, just three short years ago, but now the Eagles will start over at head coach.
