TEAM NEEDS

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Offensive Tackle

The biggest need going forward for this team has to be the protection of Carson Wentz. Lane Johnson is one of the best right tackles in football and Jason Peters is still a solid option at left tackle. With Peters getting up there in age though, it would be wise for the Eagles to invest in the position before it is an absolute need once Peters eventually retires.

Free Safety

Rodney McLeod is returning in 2019 which makes this a bit less dire of a need but they still need a player to pair with Malcolm Jenkins. The Eagles were beat deep quite a bit once McLeod went down and need an answer on the backend. Adding a rangy and versatile player to the mix early in this draft has to be one of their top priorities.

Edge Rusher

Pass rushers are vital in today’s NFL and the Eagles understand that better than most teams. After beefing up their defensive line seemingly every offseason, they could use a talented player on the edge to go along with Derek Barnett and Brandon Graham. Having a trio of good rushers on the outside would make that already talented defensive front even better.

Inside Linebacker

The position may not be valued a ton by the Eagles but they could stand to add another athletic off ball linebacker in this draft. Free agent addition LJ Fort is an underrated player who should help a bit in the middle but they could stand to ad more youth. Maybe not a target for early in the draft but definitely a position to watch for them in the later rounds.

Defensive Tackle

Did I mention how the Eagles love adding to their defensive line? Well they could yet again add to it in this draft. Their starters are among the top duos in football with Malik Jackson and Fletcher Cox but they could stand to add depth behind them. Adding a run stuffer or perhaps even an athletic interior player in the later rounds would be a great addition for the team.

TOP TARGETS

John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

Nasir Adderley | DB | Delaware

The Eagles need a rangy free safety so why not add the top free safety in the class. Adderley is a talented player who dominated the FCS game the past couple seasons and his traits should translate to the NFL game. There may a bit of a learning curve for him but overall he should be a huge improvement to the Eagles’ secondary.

Yodny Cajuste | OT | West Virginia

A player who would serve as an excellent successor to Jason Peters is Cajuste. A big, mauling offensive tackle who can protect the quarterback would be a great fit with the Eagles. Fortunately for the Eagles (not as fortunate for Cajuste sadly), he will be out for a few months after having surgery on his quadriceps. This could help a team like the Eagles snag the talented left tackle later than when he should go in this draft.

Clelin Ferrell | DE | Clemson

A perfect fit for the Eagles at edge rusher would be Ferrell. He fits the type of mold the team likes at the position and is just a solid player overall. He may slip a bit in this draft due to lack of bend and overall athleticism but he would be a great add for an already talented defensive front that the Eagles have.
