Phil Your Glass: Wine critic gives rave reviews to The Critic cabernet

Give me a moment before you start to think that writing this wine column is going to my head.

I know this week's selection screams of pompousness and arrogance. The name of the wine and the nifty label really caught my eye. However, it was the wine inside the bottle that sealed the deal for this week's choice.

The 2019 The Critic cabernet from Napa Valley is a fabulous wine for the money. Your first sip will have you wondering why it doesn't cost more. It's 90% Napa Valley cabernet with 10% merlot added. This $21.99 beauty will shower your senses with black raspberry flavors with a hint of vanilla on the finish.

Cabot clothbound cheddar and Beemster aged gouda are two perfect nibbles for this silky smooth wine. I picked up an Italian beef pinwheel from The Farmer's Rail on Front Street in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. It looked too good to pass up. The tender pepper-crusted beef, stuffed with pepperoni, mozzarella cheese, and green onions, wowed this critic while enjoying a glass of The Critic.
