If you are tired of figuring out what wine pairs with which foods, then look no further.
In fact, why don’t you just take the summer off?
I have a wine that will pair with the whole shebang. In fact, that's its name. The Whole Shebang is a $15.99 zinfandel-based red blend that goes with everything from Tuesday tacos to Friday pizzas. It’s perfect for summer grilling and chilling.
The reason this blend is so delicious and well made is that it comes from winemaker Morgan Twain-Peterson and the much-heralded Bedrock Vineyards. Its 100-year-old vines add an enjoyable, fruity richness to the wine.
This silky-smooth wine with bursting red berry flavors was awesome with a chicken burrito from Wholly Frijole. It was hard to curb my enthusiasm for this blend of 46% zinfandel, 40% grenache, 5% alicante, 5% petite sirah and 4% sangiovese.
A slice of DiCarlo’s pizza from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, was on my tasting menu since it just got a mention in a recent Food & Wine Magazine.
I also had a glass with a grilled chicken thigh slathered in Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ Sauce. I thought the sauce would be boss and take over the wine, but the Shebang proved otherwise.
